Goat demoted for parade incident
At first I was going to just post the above, thinking the story didn’t come through with the comedy that the headline did. After skimming it again, I could be wrong. Some quotes:
“He was reported for subordination and after consideration, the commanding officer decided he had no option but to demote Billy."
Since his demotion, soldiers of a lower rank are no longer expected to salute Billy as a sign of respect .
Think I’ll let it rest on its own laurels. . . .
In the British Army, the salute is for the Queens Commision, an officer holds the Queen’s commision, a lance corporal as the goat was is one of the rank and file and so , not entitled to the salute. It may have been an article written in jest.
